• Something exciting loading onto not one but two easels today.....a lovely fresh canvas, 24" x 72". They say a blank canvas can evoke feelings of excitement, dread, anguish and joy......basically fear.....thankfully not here......totally thrilled, I have never painted a canvas of this dimension and it is exhilarating to have such a large space to create.

The hill has a little volcanic structure starting to take form.

1/4 of the canvas blocked in….excited to play with the light.

Blocking in rocks….that resemble coral fringing….they have such movement with the various directions.

Volcanics forming in the foreground.

Starting to see the big picture….Tow Hill (Haida Gwaii) at sunset.

Completed, although difficult to get the image photographed with correct lighting.

A new piece….working with some softness these days. Large peonies.

Getting some dark /medium value petals in.

Adding a tightly closed flower on the left and playing with leaf values.

Adding a few petals to the flower on the right and working the background.
